Thanks for doing such a great job with "eye contact" and your partner introductions - I had so much fun listening to you guys!!

Click HERE and watch the video about "how to tie a Windsor knot".

Then please write in the comments what you thought was "good" and "not so good" about his presentation.

  1. Am I the first "banana"?

I think his presentation is pretty good.He trys to make eye contact all the time.In addition,he was a handsome guy:)
Although I saw the video many times, it is difficult for me to find fault with his presentation, but,to be rigorous, he doesn't show the whole his tie.I want to see how long
    the tie eventually looks.

I really enjoyed your class today.

  2. the second banana here!!

I think that what he was saying in the presentation was very good and it was easy for me to understand, too!

On the other hand, I found his fault in his way of presenting. Certainly he was trying to look at the video camera, but I think he is watching the mirror(or something next to the camera) too much. I think it will be better if he is more aware of the video camera, which maybe hides the large audience behind! And also, sometimes he was concentrating on his own hands too much and the way of speaking was going bad. I think he should speak more clearly all the time.

Anyway,I wanna speak fluently like him!XD
    Good night,Matt :)

  3. I felt he had practiced well because he could show how to tie smoothly and accurately. This is good point.

But I noticed he could improve his movie. If he zoom his camera when he need to focus on the main point of the tie it will be a presentation.

  4. Hi Matt.

I think his presentation is very nice.He is trying to make eye contact although he has to look at a mirror.

But I feel he says "and" in his presentation too often.Doesn't he? It can make an audience annoying.

Anyway, I learn how to tie a tie! I couldn't have tied one very well before.

    See you next class!

  5. Hi.
I watched the video. I thought his presentation was good because he was very concious about making eye contact. However, I thought he was speaking a little bit fast for people who want to watch the video and practice knotting tie.
I think it will be better if he pause at each step.

  6. Hi,Matt.I'm happy that you didn't forget YOUR homework.

I watched the video.I thought his presentation was very good.He tried to make eye contacts as much as he could, and his explanation was clear.

On the other hand, some points are not so good in it.First,I couldn't see his small gestures when he pointed at the knot of tie,for he was distant from the camera.Second, his motions were so fast that I couldn't easily understand how to tie.
So,I mean,he should make an effort to SHOW what he is doing and should think much more about gestures that are easy for us to understand, for example, pausing at each steps or showing the knot more clearly when he points.

I'm looking forward to talking with you again!

  7. I think his lecture was good, because he made eye contacts a lot and his explanation was detailed.
Though I don't usually wear a tie,I think I understood how to tie a tie basically.

But there's one thing I didn't like about this video. It's that I can't see how the tie was being tied clearly.
It would be better if he gets closer to the camera and makes that video brighter so that I can take a closer and better look.

This point is not about the speech but I hope this is appropreate.

  9. Hi, Matt.
    I nearly forgot this homework!

    I watched the video.
What I thought good about his speech is that he is using gestures to show the audience what he is talking about. It was also good that he was talking in the way we can it make out clearly.
On the other hand, I found it bad that he was looking away, not at the camera, while making the speech. I guess he was looking at a mirror... Anyway, I think he should have looked at the camera more than at the mirror.

    See you next class!

  10. Hi, Matt.
I had trouble listening to your voice in the video at the library.

I think the first half of his speech was good,
because he made eye contacts properly.

But he gradually paid less attention to the camera, and made less eye contacts.
Also, I couldn't perceive some tiny monements.
It made me a little confused.

However, I won't be able to make a speech as well as he.
I think he did a good job!!
I want to make eye contacts better.

    I really enjoyed bananabananabanana!

  11. Hi matt.
First when I saw the presentation I had a good impresion of this man because he made a lot of eye contact. However when he starts to demonstrate, it looks like he is too focused on the tie that he doesn`t make much eye contact.

I thought this presentation will be better if he demonstrated more slowly, because people who are waching his presentation are probably those who don`t know how to tie a tie.

    See you:)

  13. Hi Matt.

I think his presentation was good, because he consciously made much eye contact in the first half.
However, I think one thing was not so good in the presentation. When he was tying a tie, he was looking at the mirror too much to make sure that he tied a tie well. I think he shoud have tied it as looked at the camera naturally.

But otherwise it was good presentation. I understand how to tie a windsor knot!

    See you:)

  14. Hi,Matt.

I thought this presentation was very nice because he tried to make a lot of eye contact and his explanation was easy to understand.

On the other hand, I thought the presentation will be more better if he speak more slowly and more look the camera.

I thought making eye contact is very important when I talk with people,so I want to try to make eye contact in speaking with people!

  15. Hi, Matt!!

I thought his presentation was good because his explanation was clear and I understood easily how to tie.
And I thought "How kind this handsome man to explain to us(probably he doesn't know)!!."

    However, there were bad points.
First, he looked away from the camera many times. With more eye contact, his presentation would be better.
Second, I thought his motion was fast a little.

  16. Hi, Matt.

When I watched this video, I thought that the good points of this presentation were that he clearly explained how to tie a tie, and that it was easy to see the knot because he focused his camera on the knot.

However, there were also bad points.
First, at first he looked at his camera, but later, while he is tying his tie, he looked away from the camera.
Second, his motion was a little fast. So I couldn't watch some tiny motions.

    See you next class!

  17. Hello.
I think his presentation was really good because his explanation was compact and easy to understand. Also,I could see that he made every effort to make eye contacts.
However in this kind of presentation,I think it is better to show his tie rather than his face.
The main object of this presentation is to show how to tie a Windsor knot, and the spectators naturally have to pay attention to his tie.
However in this presentation,Icouldn't fully see his tie and missed some important points.

Of course, it is important to make eye contacts.
But I think it could be better if he focused his camera on his tie while he was demonstrating.

  18. Hi.
His presentation is good in that he makes eye contact very well.
To be honest, the presentation is little to be desired, but I wish he gave a demonstration a little more slowly.

  19. Hi,Matt.

His presentation`s good point is that he doesn`t start with a demonstration but put a introduction. It gives us a little attention to the demonstration.

However, there is a bad point. It is that he demonstrates watching a mirror. It diverts our attention from the tie to his eyes.

  20. Hi, Matt.

I think a good point of his presentation is that he shows how to tie a tie focusing the camera on a knot. To explain how to tie a tia, it is especially important to let us see a knot. Also, he tries to make eye contact.

His presentation, however, has a bad point. His demonstration is fast in the last part. I think he should do it more slowly, because the last part is crucial.

I enjoyed this video, and lerned how to tie very well.I am sure that I am able to tie.
Anyway.his presentation was very nice, and his eye contact was good. But I felt his speaking was fast.In order to understand his words,I had to listen this video many times. But I cant blame him for his fast speaking, because I am not good at listening.
I have to practice listening very hard.

  22. Hello,Matt!

I think his presentation was very good.
He tried to teach us how to tie slowly.
I could see that he tried to make eye contact.
I felt he was very confident in his presentation.

    However,there are two bad points.
First,he shouldn't have looked at himself in the mirror for so long.
I understand that he couldn't help but look at himself because he is handsome.
Second, some part of his windsor knot was out of the screen.
I couldn't see the tip of his windsor knot.

  23. Hi,Matt.

I think his presentation was pretty good. His instruction was easy to understand.
However,he seemed to look at the mirror too often. Besides,he should have shown his tie rather than his face. I could only see the upper part of the tie.If he showed the whole tie,his instruction would be better.

  24. Hi, Matt!

I think this video is good, because he makes enough eye contact and his explanations are so clear that those who has never tied a Windsor knot may learn to do it.

But I suppose this video would be better if he made a stop after every motion.
Then, people who are watching this video could follow his explanation, tying a Windsor knot by themselves.

I'll see you in the next class!

  25. Hello, Matt.

I think his presentation is very good in that
he used eye contact many times. Also he could
    speech fluently and simply.
On the other hand, the tie was shown too small
to understand how to knot it. It is better to zoom in the image on a point by point.

  26. Hi,Matt!

I think his presentation was pretty good.
He often tried to make eye contact, and tried
to explain how to tie a tie with simple words.

But I also found a bad point.
He spoke so fast that I sometime couldn't
    understand what he said exactly.
He shoud speak his presentation more slowly.

  27. Hi, Matt.

I think his presentation was good because he used simple words.

But when he tied his tie, he looked at something next to the camera (I think it's a mirror) too often.
In addtion, his demonstration was too fast to practice tying while watching it.
I think it would be better to make a pause.

  28. Hi,Matt.

I found some good and bad points in the presentation.
He speaks fluently and emphasizes important points. And,above all,he tries to do "eye contact."They are good points.

But he sometimes looks at a note or something.(Everyone says it is a mirror,so I don't have confidence.)I think he shouid remember things he wants to speak about before presentation.(Even if it is a mirror,he should learn to make that presentation without looking in the mirror.)And I don't think that the place where he makes the presentation is good. I saw a toilet.

Thanks to this video,I understood that preparation is important for a presentation.

See you in the next class.

  29. Hello,Matt(^_^)v

I think his presentation is almost good.

He was trying to look at us many times.

He taught us how to tie in detail at each important step.

Basically, his presentation is very understandable.

However, his way of speaking is a little bit bad,I think.

He spoke in the same tone through his presentation.

I think he had better speak more distinctly.

  30. Dear Matt:

I watched the video many times, so let me write what I thought about it.

I think his presentation is mostly good.
Though his speech is sometimes too fast for me to follow,
the clear movements of his hands make it easy to understand how to tie a Windsor knot.

However, he looks out of the camera too often.
I guess there is a mirror or a screen next to the camera.
But I think he should have put it BEHIND the camera.

Also, I felt a little disgusting when I saw a toilet at the end of the video.

    See you tomorrow, Matt.

  31. Hi Matt!!

I think the presentation of the video is nice and easy to understand because the guy in the video is showing how to tie a tie by using easy words like "make a triangle" or "line up with the second button" or something.

Also I like that he is trying make eye contact as much as possible.

However, for the most time, he is looking at mirror or something.I felt that is not good point for viewers. In addition,I want him to make more big voice or explain with the more proper stress.I felt a little difficulty with which point is the most important.

And, if I can say more, I don't want him to make a presentation at toilet!! That's all, haha.

I think I noticed bad points more than good points, but in general, he is good!!He is handsome!!...And you, too!!

See you in the next class. Bye!

  32. Hi!
Finally, I managed to post my comment here.
    Thank you for your help.

His presentation is pretty good. It was very easy to understand. But one thing he has to change is the way he speaks. He was always looking at notes or something. That gives viewers a bad impression.

I'm looking forward to seeing you in the class.

  33. Hi,Matt.

I wathced the presentation. His was pretty good, I think. He made eye contacts, and tried to speak kindly. However, if he speak and show how to tie a little more slowly and clearly, I think his presentation will be easier for viewer to understand.

  34. He made a good presentation, I think.
Thanks to him, I finally got how to tie a tie.
He spoke loudly and his pronanciation was clear to hear.

But there's one thing that I think he should change in his presentation: he often looked over other direnction and didn't look at viewers. I believe when one makes presentation, he/she should look at viewers(or audience) all the time, so as not to make them feel bored or isolated.

That's all. See you next class Matt.

  35. Hello matt
In the first half of the presentation, he tried to look the camera and show how to tie a windsor knot in the way viewers can easily understand it.It was a good point.
But in the latter, he forgot the existence of the viewer and to see the camera because he concetrated on tying too much. Then we, viewers, couldnt understand the main point of the presentation.I think we should look the eye of audience or emphasize what we want to say with gestures. It was a bad point.

I enjoyed the homework, thank you.
    See you tomorrow.

  36. I think his presentation is not so good, because he explains the way to us without enough eye contact. I think that he is watching a mirror. And I feel that he is mumbling.
So I think that he should watch his camera and speak clearly.

    About the video

Good point:His eye contuct was very good. He gave his eyes to the camera each time he went to next steps. I felt as if I was really in front of him, instead of my PC!

Bad point:The introduction was a little fast and not loud.So I couldn't understand it well.

  39. I thought his eye contact was good. But I found two faults in his presentation.
First,he should have shown the way of tieing a tie from his perspective. We want to know how a tie goes when we tie a tie from OUR perspective.
Second and most importantly,he should have taken the video in another room.He took the video in the bathroom! We can recognize a toilet at 1:30.A sensible man wouldn't take a video in the bathroom.

But I think he should make more eye contact(see the camera). I couldn't concentrate on what he was saying because I was very conscious of what he was looking at.

  42. Hello,Matt!

I think the presentation was very good.
This is because he explained in detail and in plain English.
He spoke clearly and not so fast that I could hear well, and personally the origin of a Windsor knot which he explained first was interesting.

However,I found a few bad points.
I think he should take a video in a more bright room and show his tie closer to the camera. If he did it,it will be obvious how he tie.

I watched the presentation many times to find good and bad points of it.
I think the presentation didn't have any big problems. The man sometimes saw the camera and pointed the tie to understand how to put on a tie more clearly.
However,I suspect that his voice was sometimes indistinct.
Probably,my lintening skill isn't good. But I want him to speak more crearly.

  47. Hi Matt!

I think the first half of the speech was easily understandable, for he told us obviously what is important to pause moderately or emphasize particular words.

However,in the second half of the speech, his tempo of speaking and demonstration became little bit quick, which perhaps made listeners confused a little.

Anyway,by and large, his speech was nice and will probably save tie-tiers a lot of time.
